GSSL Constitution


Article 1 - NAME, ADDRESS AND DURATION

Section 1: The Greater Seattle Soccer League, hereinafter referred to as the "GSSL," is a non-profit organization existing under the laws of the State of Washington.

Section 2: The Board of the GSSL shall designate a legal registered address and agent as required by law.

Section 3: The duration of this organization shall be perpetual.


Article 2 - OBJECTIVES

Section 1: The objectives of the GSSL are to:

a) Foster, control and advance adult amateur soccer in the greater Seattle metropolitan area;

b) Organize and govern adult soccer for its membership;

c) Provide administrative services, advice, and assign administrative responsibilities to member organizations;

d) Establish uniform operating procedures applicable to adult soccer competition and recreation consistent with the principles and laws of the Federation Internationale de Football Associations (FIFA);

e) Settle questions or disputes on any matter relating to adult soccer which may be submitted to the GSSL for its adjudication;

f) Purchase, lease, hire, or otherwise acquire and hold real and personal property rights and privileges which the GSSL may think necessary or convenient to the attainment of any of the foregoing objectives or generally for the promoting, carrying on, and fostering of adult soccer;

g) Sell, lease, mortgage, change or otherwise dispose of any of the property of the GSSL and to grant such rights and privileges thereover in such manner as the GSSL may from time to time think necessary and proper;

h) Invest, control, and dispose of the funds of the GSSL as may be considered to be advisable for the advancement of GSSL adult soccer;

i) Do all such things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the preceding objectives of any of them.


Article 3 - GSSL COLORS

Section 1: The representatives colors of the GSSL shall be blue and white.


Article 4 - JURISDICTION

Section 1: The GSSL shall have jurisdiction over all its member organizations and/or clubs, as well as associated individuals as players, managers, coaches and administrators.


Article 5 - ADMINISTRATIVE AUTHORITY

Section 1: The GSSL Board shall be governed by the Constitution and Bylaws.

Section 2: The GSSL Board shall have the authority from time to time to issue policies or instructions necessary to interpret, clarify or further define the Constitution, Bylaws and Operating Procedures.


Article 6 - MEMBERSHIP

Section 1: The membership in the GSSL shall consist of teams, clubs, and organizations engaged in adult soccer within the Greater Seattle area which agree to be bound by the Constitution, Bylaws and Operating Procedures of the GSSL and which shall be admitted to membership in accordance with the Bylaws of the GSSL.

Section 2: Individual players, coaches, managers, and administrators shall be members of the GSSL through their affiliation or association with said member teams, clubs and organizations, or as elected officers of the GSSL.


Article 7 - ADMINISTRATION

Section 1: The governing authority of the GSSL shall be vested with the officers of the GSSL.

Section 2: The GSSL shall be governed by its Constitution, Bylaws and Operating Procedures.


Article 8 - MEETINGS

Section 1: During the month of September of each year, the general membership of the GSSL shall elect the Board of Directors in accordance with the election provisions defined by the bylaws.

Section 2: Meetings of the GSSL Board shall be considered business meetings and shall be called as defined in the Bylaws.


Article 9 - PARLIAMENTARY PROCEDURES

Section 1: The Constitution may be altered, added to, or rescinded from time to time provided that no alteration or amendment shall be made except by a vote of the majority of the members present at a general meeting of the GSSL, the details of the proposed change to be stated in writing in the agenda for the meeting.

Section 2: The GSSL Board and the members shall have the power to make from time to time, repeal, and amend, all or any of the Bylaws and/or Operating Procedures as considered expedient for the management or well-being of the GSSL or for furtherance of its objectives.
